FAQ

Spring 2024 Registration

To register, select Register from the top menu.

Please read the following important information then follow the instructions to register.

1. Who can participate in Falls Church Youth Lacrosse Club?

The boundaries of FCYLC include all addresses that align with the following public high schools:

  • Meridian HS, Falls Church HS, Justice HS
  • Marshall MS, McLean HS
  • Yorktown HS, Washington-Liberty HS

NVYLL will grant waivers in certain cases, please contact FCYLC if you are interested in a waiver. Click on www.nvyll.org to find the complete list of NVYLL club boundaries.

2. What are the ages/grades of the players?

For boys, players must be 14 & under thru the entire school year ending 8/31/2024. Girls must be in grades K thru 8. FCYLC also runs a 6U boys’ clinic for kids who are ages 4-6 and not ready to play competitive lacrosse. Players who are on a Varsity/JV high school team are ineligible to play in the NVYLL.  8th graders who play JV lacrosse for their high school may participate in the NVYLL, although this not typical.

3. How are the teams determined?

Teams are based on age for boys and grade for girls. When we have enough players to form multiple teams, we will hold preseason tryouts and place teams in the A, B, or C divisions.

Boys (Age)

Girls (Grade)

14U: 14 and under thru 8/31/2024

78 – 7th & 8th

12U: 12 and under thru 8/31/2024

56 –5th & 6th

10U: 10 and under thru 8/31/2024

34 – 3rd & 4th

8U:   8 and under thru 8/31/2024

K2 – K, 1st & 2nd

6U:   6 and under thru 8/31/2024

FCYLC may combine players in a division with those from neighboring NVYLL clubs so that we have enough players to form A, B and C teams to provide an appropriately competitive team for your child. We have a target number of teams at each age level and will waitlist players with the hope of forming an additional team when possible. Please register early to reserve your spot.

4. When does the season start and finish?
Practice and tryouts will start in February for boys 10U and up and girls 34 and up, initially on the weekends. Starting in March, teams will practice twice a week and play a game/scrimmage on the weekend. Typically, boys play games on Saturday and girls play on Sunday afternoon. The first league games are the weekend of March 23/24. Team will play 8 games over 7 weeks with a double header one weekend. Playoffs are May 20/21. We will not have games on Easter Weekend (March 30/31) and Memorial Day Weekend (May 25/26).

5. Can I rent equipment?

As noted in the registration form, the club has a limited amount of equipment to rent for boys ($50). We no longer rent equipment for girls, girls are expected to provide their own sticks and SEI approved goggles. We provide rentals to those families who are trying the sport for the first time and not yet committed to the sport to buy the equipment, or who are not able to purchase it. We ask that all other families purchase equipment for your child. Rentals are on a first come, first serve basis.  You are responsible for the timely return of rental equipment. FCYLC reserves the right to charge ($200) your account if equipment is damaged or not returned at the end of the season.

6. What are the costs?

The early registration fee is $265.  8U boys and K2 girls are $175. The 6U boys’ clinic is $100.  Before 2/1/24, registration fees receive a 10% early bird discount. Siblings also receive a 10% discount. The equipment rental fee is $50 for boys. Partial/full scholarships are available for families who need assistance with registration fees.  If interested, please contact the FCYLC via email noted below.

7. Refunds

If a player withdraws after registering, the parent may request a refund (minus a $25 processing fee) by sending an email to fclaxinfo@gmail.com no later than March 15th, 2024. No refunds after this date unless an injury with written Doctor's note. Refunds will only be processed via credit card.
